Amorepacific Group supports the economic autonomy of single mothers.
Hope Store is a ‘micro credit’ program that supports single mothers achieve economic autonomy by providing loans to start businesses, making positive changes in the lives of their families.
It began with ‘The Beautiful Foundation,’ a fund donated by family members of Jangwon Suh Sungwhan, founder of Amorepacific Group, on June 30, 2003 to commemorate his effort in providing welfare support to women and children. Hope Store seeks to help single mother households achieve stable livelihood by supporting them launch new businesses in various fields such as food, beauty, service, retail and wholesale manufacturing and education. Since the opening of the first Hope Store in 2004, the program opened its 100th store in 2011 and the 200th store in 2013. As of December 2018, 365 Hope Stores were opened.
On top of the previous support provided to startup founders of Hope Stores, in 2018, Amorepacific Group organized ‘Learning Startup’ program, where beneficiaries can learn business knowhows from senior beneficiaries who have been successfully running their businesses for more than five years. Through this support program, which is in its second year, new business owners in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon opened Hope Stores learning startup items and knowhows from previous beneficiaries who opened a Budaejjigae (sausage stew) restaurant (in Dongjak-gu, Seoul) and a hand car wash (in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul).
