Amorepacific has once again validated its sunscreen development capabilities on the international stage, further cementing its scientific credibility in the global sun care market.
As consumer interest in sunscreen continues to grow, differences in efficacy between sun care products and the credibility of testing methodologies have emerged as key issues in both domestic and international markets. More specifically, transparency and objectivity surrounding how SPF and PA values are derived, as well as through what standards and procedures, are becoming increasingly critical factors. Against this backdrop, the cosmetics industry is turning to efficacy evaluations conducted by internationally recognized institutions to ensure the objectivity and reproducibility of test results.
Amorepacific's R&I Center has continuously advanced its international standard-based sun protection evaluation framework and recently earned a "satisfactory" rating in a sunscreen efficacy evaluation administered by BIPEA (Bureau Interprofessionnel d'Etudes Analytiques) of France. A globally recognized authority in efficacy testing, BIPEA's certification confirms that Amorepacific's sun protection evaluation capabilities exceed international benchmarks and have achieved a high level of credibility.
The evaluation method for which certification was received is ISO 24443, the international standard test method for assessing UVA protection. ISO 24443 is an in vitro test standard used to evaluate sunscreen's UVA protection efficacy and is widely utilized across European and global markets. In the BIPEA efficacy evaluation, Amorepacific demonstrated exceptional accuracy in deriving UVA protection indices for three blinded test samples, once again corroborating the credibility and consistency of its data through an independent external body.
In addition, Amorepacific's R&I Center has newly established a testing framework based on ISO 23675, the latest international standard for measuring the SPF index of sunscreens. Designed to enable more precise and stable assessment of sun protection performance under laboratory conditions, the establishment of this framework confirms that Amorepacific monitors and verifies the credibility of its sunscreen product evaluations to meet international standards from the earliest stages of research and development.
"Amorepacific has long operated a sunscreen evaluation framework grounded in international standards, through which we have developed world-class sun care products," said a representative from Amorepacific's R&I Center. "This efficacy evaluation represents a meaningful achievement — one that objectively reaffirms, through an independent external institution, the accuracy and reproducibility of our evaluation results." The representative added, "Sunscreens are products that consumers rely on daily to protect and maintain their skin health. That is why it is essential not only to ensure superior product efficacy, but also to responsibly manage the accuracy and reliability of efficacy claims. We will continue to put our customers' skin health first and remain committed to delivering high-quality sun care products they can trust and select with confidence."
Amorepacific has remained committed to improving its sun protection technologies ever since developing Korea's first sunscreen, "Parasol Cream," in 1959. Building on this heritage of innovation, the company has received certification as a "World Class Korean Product Manufacturer" in the sunscreen category and continues to expand its presence in the global sun care market on the strength of its cultivated legacy in the Korean market.
