Sustainability 2015-10-28

AMOREPACIFIC Corporation (CEO Suh Kyung-bae) earned the honor of being the first in the Korean beauty and health industry to be accepted into DJSI World and DJSI Korea for six straight years. The 2015 DJSI awards ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. on October 28 in the Grand Hyatt Seoul, Korea.

DJSI (Dow Jones Sustainability Indices) is a global standard that was developed in 1999 in collaboration by the world's largest financial market indices provider, S&P Dow Jones Indices, and RobecoSAM, an expert in sustainability assessment and investment, for the purpose of providing a comprehensive assessment of companies based on economic, environmental and social factors. In 2008, the Korea Productivity Center developed the world's first country-specific index, DJSI Korea, in partnership with the S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM. It has since been updated and announced annually.

According to the 2015 DJSI report, AMOREPACIFIC Corporation showed excellent performance overall in economic, environmental and social sectors and especially topped the list for CRM (Customer Relationship Management), ethical management and environmental management, a clear sign of its market-leading status.

- AMOREPACIFIC Corporation was the first in the industry to operate an integrated membership service – Beauty Point, which it launched in 2008 and which encompasses all of its brands and channels. Indeed, it provides Beauty Point-exclusive products and services to improve customer satisfaction. AMOREPACIFIC Corporation also studies consumption patterns and customer buying behavior using its integrated global customer database to enhance customer management and communication as part of CRM approach. Moreover, it brings constant innovation to its online customer service, with the LANEIGE Beauty Mirror app allowing customers to test products using mobile cameras, and ARITAUM digital platform service designed to meet the needs of foreign tourists.

- In 2003, AMOREPACIFIC Corporation declared its strong ethical management stance and it has since sought to promote the practice of healthy corporate ethics among all employees, who take an online oath each year to maintain their ethical stance and professional integrity. In 2014, employees of global branches in China, Japan and the United States joined on board. In addition, AMOREPACIFIC Corporation leads the promotion of ethics across its business ecosystem through meeting with partners for ethical management and the launch of its ethical management report site (in January 2014).

- AMOREPACIFIC Corporation has established an environmental management system and sought to minimize its impact on the environment. Through increased waste recycling and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the production process, it is able to control the level of disposable waste. At the same time, it works to restore botanical resources, for example rare Korean-native beans, which serves to preserve biological diversity.

"The incorporation into DJSI once again reflects the considerable effort that AMOREPACIFIC invests in fulfilling its social responsibility as a leading global company. The company will continue to work hard to share its vision of sustainability management with customers and to practice integrated strategies to achieve that vision," said director Kim Jeong-ho at AMOREPACIFIC Corporation PR Division.

Meanwhile, AMOREPACIFIC Corporation has undertaken activities in four strategic directions (customers, environment, employees/partners and social contribution) under the sustainability management vision of Beauty for Good – Asian Beauty Creator, which has changed the world with beauty – since it established the sustainability management system in 2008. It finds and implements high-priority tasks and discloses the results to the public as a way to enhance sustainability.
