Pink Ribbon Love Marathon of AMOREPACIFIC Corporation in Seoul ends in success

2015 Pink Ribbon Love Marathon in Seoul was organized by AMOREPACIFIC Corporation (CEO Suh Kyung-bae) and hosted by the Korean Breast Cancer Foundation (Director Noh Dong-yeong) on the morning of October 18 at Yeouido Park. The event was a great opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of self-examination and provide useful information on breast health.

Celebrating 15th anniversary this year, Pink Ribbon Love Marathon is a renowned program of AMOREPACIFIC Pink Ribbon Campaign designed to improve public awareness of breast cancer, the most common type of cancer affecting Korean women, and raise awareness about the importance of self-examination. Today, 10,000 participants coloured Yeouido pink to make the grand finale of the largest Pink Ribbon festival.

This year’s Pink Ribbon Love Marathon in Seoul ended successfully, offering various entertaining events for the participants to watch, enjoy and, share with those taking part to raise awareness of the importance of breast health for women. Plus, Song Jae-rim, a model for LANEIGE, and Lim Ji-yeon, the exclusive model for HANYUL, took part in the event alongside staff from the Korean Breast Cancer Foundation and AMOREPACIFIC Corporation, adding to the beauty of Pink Ribbon Campaign for women’s health. 

There were various attractions and entertainment on offer to those taking part in the event, including a large pink thread-wrapped Pink Ribbon artwork created by Pink Generation, who are a group of citizens appointed as ambassadors for the Pink Ribbon Campaign with the hope of helping breast cancer patients regain their health soon. There were also concerts and a work of art by professor Kim Seung-min of Duksung Women's University. Plus, Pink Ribbon sponsors including HERA, ARITAUM, Facebook and Kumho Tire were on hand to provide useful information about breast healthcare, self-examination and free breast cancer checkups to remind participants and their family members of the importance of healthy beauty of women.

AMOREPACIFIC Corporation established the first NGO for breast cancer – the Korean Breast Cancer Foundation – has invested the entire foundation fund in 2000 in return for the love of female customers, which has made it the No.1 cosmetics company in Korea. Since then, it has promoted Pink Ribbon Campaign to improve public awareness of breast health. Over the last 14 years, Pink Ribbon Campaign has attracted about 460,000 participants and become a representative campaign for the women’s health. This year, AMOREPACIFIC Corporation and the Korean Breast Cancer Foundation announced a new slogan – Pink Ribbon, Alwaysto make the 15th anniversary of the Pink Ribbon Campaign and strengthen the determination of supporters to once again communicate with more citizens through this annual campaign, while drawing on their continuous support and interest in breast health awareness.

The Pink Ribbon Love Marathon is the biggest Pink Ribbon Campaign event in Korea and provides useful information about breast healthcare. Plus, all entry fees for the marathon are donated to the cause, along with a Matching Gift from AMOREPACIFIC and contributions from partners to the Korean Breast Cancer Foundation. From 2001 through to last year, a total of KRW 2.6 billion collected from 254,000 participants was donated to the Korean Breast Cancer Foundation, which was then used to pay the medical bills of 780 breast cancer patients from low-income families and host more than 700 public lectures on breast health. In this way, AMOREPACIFIC Corporation has contributed to promoting the culture of sharing.
