Using renewable energy

Amorepacific Group continues to invest in renewable energy with the goal to increase power generated from renewable energy in the mid-to-long term. To this end, we make full use of unused spaces across our business sites in Korea and overseas to generate energy from solar panels and renewable sources.

Declaration of RE100 to save the environment with low-carbon energy

Amorepacific is the first in the Korean beauty industry to join the global RE100 initiative, which commits to sourcing 100% renewable electricity. We are advancing the transition to renewable energy through various feasible mechanisms in Korea to achieve RE100 by 2025.

Product Production Through 100% Renewable Energy

Amore Beauty Park, responsible for manufacturing essential Amorepacific products such as Sulwhasoo and LANEIGE, has already secured a 2.6MW solar power infrastructure. Starting in 2022, the company has been able to produce its products using 100% renewable electricity through Green Premium and third-party Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs). In 2022, in collaboration with SK E&S, the Daejeon Daily Beauty production site became the first in the country to establish a direct renewable energy PPA. This will supply 5MW of renewable energy for 20 years starting from the first half of 2023 and is expected to reduce approximately 2,700 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually. The Shanghai Beauty Campus has been using 100% renewable electricity since 2021. Recognizing the importance of expanding renewable energy to combat climate change, the company is aiming for early achievement of RE100 by 2025 and is utilizing various newly revised domestic and international renewable energy policies.

Energy Efficiency in Manufacturing Facilities

To reduce the overall energy consumption, we have concurrently innovated our equipment operation processes and promoted energy-saving activities in daily life. We implemented a system to control fans running 24/7 regardless of the equipment operation, reducing electricity consumption and preventing air dilution of pollutants. This initiative was selected as a best practice by the Ministry of Environment. We modified the insulation and heating systems in our manufacturing facilities to conserve electricity and have continually identified and pursued additional saving activities through energy-saving actions and Energy Task Force activities.
