makeup your life

makeup your life is a campaign that offers female cancer patients struggling with sudden changes to their physical appearance due to chemotherapy the ‘knowhows to cultivate their own beauty’. It is not about merely helping them look more beautiful, but to encourage them to return to their everyday life they enjoyed before by managing their appearance through skincare and makeup.

Psychological Changes brought through Makeup

Female cancer patients are twice as likely to suffer from stress due to the changes in their body type, three times more likely to experience hair loss, and twice as likely to suffer from stress due to changes in their skin than healthy women. Over 35% of patients continue to suffer from such stress even 12 months after cancer surgery. According to the results of a study (titled Makeup Program’s Psychological Effects on Breast Cancer Patients, co-authored with Prof. Kim Jeong-hyeon and Prof. Park Hye-yeon at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital), which was published by breast cancer specialist Kim Seong-won, the Director of Daerim St. Mary’s Hospital, cancer patients who participated in makeup your life campaign showed positive psychological effects of a 17% decrease in stress level and a 12% decline in evasive responses to cancer.
